Story Title: In the Shadows (On the Page) Series Title: Scenes from an Alternate Home, In an Alternate Town Characters: Alexis Stokes, Julia Hoffman Notes: Set after episode 998 Series Summary: The world of 1970 Parallel Time as seen through the eyes of those who lived it. A series of vignettes that will cover the thoughts and lives of many of the characters, pre, during, and post-storyline. Updated irregularly. Story Summary: Alexis Stokes reflects back on her first two nights at Collinwood and on its inhabitants unending fascination with her sister, Angelique.
Rating: PG-13 (since it's mostly sweet fluff with a few bitter drops of angst and family enmity)
A/N: A little something I had been working on for a while, but which seemed appropriate to put out there now. There are references to Parallel Time and Main time, with all Parallel Time dates labeled as PT, of course. Happy Father's Day.
Summary: Glimpses at (mostly) happy moments between father's and their children here and there throughout the history of the Collins clan (real and parallel time) ___________________________________________
Rating/Warnings: R for the tiniest bit of implied violence, an implied quantity of blood, and some mild profanity ("damn" a few times)
A/N: It is fairly obvious from a rewatch of the 1840 storyline that Quentin and Samantha Collins both greatly loved their son Tad. This is just something that came to me in a dream. A pair of daguerrotype (late-1830s/early-1840s photography) style photo manipulations I made to accompany this story can be found here at collinwood_fic
Summary: After the events of 1840/41, Tad Collins reflects on his childhood and times good and bad that he spent with his parents.
Rating/Warnings: PG-13 for some mentions of the dangers of life in the late 19th century...
A/N: Everybody, I suppose, has their own idea for the backstory of characters they liked who weren't fully explored in a show or film.
In Dark Shadows fandom, one question that seems to pop up among some fans is why Beth, who didn't seem to be of Hispanic descent, had a surname like Chavez which, though it was pronounced "sha-VEZ" on the show, is definitely, from the spelling, the old Spanish surname meaning "keys". I've seen many fan fiction explanations. Anyway, here's my take on Beth's pre-Collinwood life, including the name issue. This is sort of a prequel to TheWorldTrilogy, in that it takes place in the same version of the Dark Shadows universe.
Summary: Childhood should be a time of some joy; little did Beth know just how well her own tormented youth would prepare her for the agonies of adult life that lay ahead.
Summary: Quentin never meant to be a bad man; he simply didn't know which way he really wanted his life to go. It would take him what seemed like forever to learn that sometimes, when what you think you want most is the world at your feet, you really want the world that's made up of those who truly love you. ____________________________________________________ ( Quentin had just returned from a trip to France when his nephew Jamison was born.Collapse )
Rating/Warnings: R, for a loss of psychological and emotional innocence, an implied abortion, and the implied murder of an animal.
A/N: I was suddenly compelled to explore the bond between Jamison Collins and his Uncle Quentin. I don't know why. It's a subject that must have been explored a million times in stories. And then of course Beth came into matters a lot, so it became a sort of triangular study of the relationship of a young child with two adults he adores.
Summary: Jamison's Uncle Quentin was his whole world when he was young. But time goes by, and not all of our worlds are permanent.
Rating/Warnings: R for vampiric biting and a little blood (more will probably appear when other DS fans beat me for this making no sense)
A/N: Watching some Dark Shadows minisodes over at YouTube, I noticed that the first time Angelique bites Joe, she afterward seems quite enamored of him. I know, I know, it's the whole vamp-thrall connections, blah blah. Anyway, this was born of the observation. It's a bit crack!fic, a bit parallel time tale, a bit going-out-into-the-world micro-mini!saga, a bit love story...it's just odd, okay?
Summary: Nicholas Blair is defeated...perhaps too easily. In the aftermath, Angelique and Joe leave Collinsport far behind, not sure what lies ahead for them...
